Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Materials Science

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our Materials Theory and Computation (MaTComp) group at Tulane University. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Prof. Jianwei Sun and focus on developing new theoretical methods in electronic structure theory, with a particular emphasis on density functional theory (DFT).
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computational chemistry/condensed matter physics and experience in implementing new electronic structure theories into existing software. They will also possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor and work with graduate and undergraduate research students.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new theoretical methods in electronic structure theory, with a focus on DFT
- Implement new electronic structure theories into existing software
- Mentor and work with graduate and undergraduate research students
- Collaborate with the research group to advance the field of computational materials science
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related field
- Experience in developing new theoretical methods in electronic structure theory, with DFT preferred
- Knowledge of computational chemistry/condensed matter physics software packages, e.g. VASP, Turbomole, Gaussian, etc.
- Strong skills in implementing new electronic structure theories into existing software
- Ability to mentor and work collaboratively with graduate and undergraduate research students
