Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Machinist Instructor to join our team at Paul D. Camp Community College. As an adjunct faculty member, you will provide instruction and coordination for the Workforce Development Outside Machinist Program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare students for work in a shipyard environment
• Develop and deliver curriculum that meets industry standards
• Provide a high level of instruction and engage in a positive academic environment to support students with varying academic and other supportive needs
• Communicate effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and other college stakeholders
• Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in machinist training

Requirements:

• At least five (5) or more years of experience in the application of machinist processes in an industrial workplace setting
• Considerable knowledge of machinist principles and applications
• Considerable knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) guidelines
• Demonstrated skill in the application of machinist processes in an industrial workplace setting
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and other college stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience at the community college level
• Machinist experience in a shipyard
