Position Overview
The Capital Campaign Director is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO). The primary responsibilities of the Capital Campaign Director are to ensure all aspects of the Lighting The Way capital campaign move forward, including major donor stewardship to secure and support the solicitation of $10M in gifts, data management, and strategy during the next 24-36 months.
This position will oversee the development and goals of a 15-person campaign committee. Additionally, the Capital Campaign Director is responsible for all aspects of a portfolio of individuals/organizations, including identifying, acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and administer major gift strategy to secure $10M in gifts and pledges within a 12, 24, and 36-month time frame;
- Manage all aspects of the campaign committee, including stewardship, recruitment, communication, and reports;
- In conjunction with the CEO and CPO, the Capital Campaign Director will maintain a portfolio of major donor prospects and be responsible for cultivation, stewardship, retention, and upgrading while supporting the creation and implementation of major gifts strategy across the organization;
- Assist in the creation and implementation of department goals, objectives, and timelines;
- Participate in moves management meetings and work with CEO, CPO, and development team to identify prospective capital campaign and other major donors. Conduct detailed donor research on current/prospective donors;
- Prepare analysis of Lighthouse donor data trends and reports, proactively offering insight that will impact development operations and relationship management practices;
- Be a collaborative team player Participate in and give feedback on development efforts with the entire development team;
- Work closely with the Development team and others to manage relevant donor information and ensure its accuracy in the database;
- Contribute to a workplace culture that is growth-oriented, collaborative, and emphasizes its identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values;
- Schedule, attend, and support all capital campaign planning and committee meetings;
- Produce all capital campaign packets for prospect and donor visits with supporting documentation and follow-up correspondence;
- Produce all campaign correspondence, including letters of acknowledgment;
- Maintain records regarding campaign gifts and pledges, including payment schedules, and the production of pledge reminders for outstanding pledge balances;
- Collaborate and lead on the planning and execution of campaign-related events, such as the groundbreaking ceremonies and associated milestone events;
- Handle any incidental details related to the campaign as specified by the CPO.
Requirements:
- 7-10+ years of experience in director-level major gift fundraising;
- Collaborative, high-achieving, and mission-oriented colleague;
- Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail;
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff and volunteers;
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills;
- Some travel required. Some night and weekend work required. Attend internal and external events to engage donors. Participate in post-event activities, including stewardship and evaluating successes and challenges;
