Position Summary:


Trendsetter Engineering, Inc. specializes in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of Multiplexed Electro-Hydraulic (MUX) Control Systems utilized across various Trendsetter apparatus, including intervention systems.

With minimal oversight, the individual will support the installation and evaluation of control systems for subsea apparatus, ensuring compliance with design specifications and operational protocols as well as client expectations.

This role involves executing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assembly tasks based on both written and verbal directives.

These responsibilities necessitate the use of electrical tools, mechanical hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments, alongside adherence to Trendsetter's operational standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the installation and evaluation of subsea control systems and equipment according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Carry out software and firmware installations, configuring software for deployment or specific project needs.
  • Facilitate the mobilization and de-mobilization processes for the Sentinel Control Systems.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely and effectively.
  • Assist in the operation of Trendsetter or client equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of Subsea Communication Modules, Subsea Power and Communication Units, Electrical Power Units, Master Control Stations, Subsea Electronics Modules, and Hydraulic Valve Packs.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Extended Factory Acceptance Tests (EFAT), and System Integration Tests (SIT) as required.
  • Execute diagnostic troubleshooting on malfunctioning electronic equipment of minor to moderate complexity using multimeters, meggers, loop calibrators, etc.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking abilities in diagnosing and resolving issues identified during testing and control equipment evaluations.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Essential Qualifications:

  • Willingness to undertake periodic offshore assignments to global locations, totaling up to 180 days annually.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a residential/commercial electrician or electronics technician.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools.
  • Advanced understanding of AC and DC electrical circuits and electrical theory.
  • Knowledgeable about electrical hazards and ESD awareness.
  • Familiarity with wiring standards.
  • Capable of soldering with minimal supervision to IPC class 3 standards.
  • Proficient in communication protocols (RS232, RS485, MODBUS, TCP/IP, CANbus) and 4-20mA devices and digital transducers.
  • Knowledgeable about EFLs and subsea wet mate/dry mate connectors.
  • Experienced in operating hydraulic assemblies, HPUs, pressure testing, and understanding fittings and fluid cleanliness controls.
  • Competent in computer usage.
  • Skilled in interpreting one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, pneumatic schematics, and piping/instrumentation diagrams.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid US passport.
  • Ability to secure travel visas for global assignments is required.
  • Must pass an OGUK physical (or equivalent) as necessary.
  • Must possess or obtain an International Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Card) with vaccinations compliant with travel to designated global locations.
  • Must possess or obtain IADC certification (Well Control, Subsea Completions, Intervention).
Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen, and speak.
  • Frequent need for manual dexterity - using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Must wear steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and other Personal Protective Equipment as required in safety zones.
