We are seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to join our team at the Tabor Correctional Institution. As a Dental Assistant, you will provide technical assistance to dentists and dental students in the care of dental patients. This is a full-time position working rotating shifts.

- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Clean and sterilize instruments, prepare and arrange instruments, prepare and arrange instrument trays for clinical use.
- Explain procedures and provide support to patients.
- Pass instruments to the dentist during dental procedures.
- Prepare impressions and filling materials.
- Operate oral evacuation equipment, retractors, and water/air sprays.
- Monitor patient's behavior and vital signs as requested by the dentist.
- Complete patient records and charts, billings and reappointments.
- Clean and clear the operatory and instruments.
- Take routine x-rays and photographs.
- Instruct patients, family, and/or healthcare staff in basic oral hygiene.
- Completion of a dental assistant program from an appropriately accredited institution.
- At least one year of on-the-job training/experience working as a dental assistant.
- Documented knowledge of dental equipment, instruments, and dental procedures.
- Meets requirements to take dental radiographs in North Carolina.
This is a full-time position working rotating shifts. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
