Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to join our team at the Tabor Correctional Institution. As a Dental Assistant, you will provide technical assistance to dentists and dental students in the care of dental patients. This is a full-time position working rotating shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to dentists and dental students in the care of dental patients.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments, prepare and arrange instruments, prepare and arrange instrument trays for clinical use.
  • Explain procedures and provide support to patients.
  • Pass instruments to the dentist during dental procedures.
  • Prepare impressions and filling materials.
  • Operate oral evacuation equipment, retractors, and water/air sprays.
  • Monitor patient's behavior and vital signs as requested by the dentist.
  • Complete patient records and charts, billings and reappointments.
  • Clean and clear the operatory and instruments.
  • Take routine x-rays and photographs.
  • Instruct patients, family, and/or healthcare staff in basic oral hygiene.
Requirements
  • Completion of a dental assistant program from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • At least one year of on-the-job training/experience working as a dental assistant.
  • Documented knowledge of dental equipment, instruments, and dental procedures.
  • Meets requirements to take dental radiographs in North Carolina.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position working rotating shifts. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
