About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Assistant to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Surgical Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and other medical professionals during surgical procedures, maintaining a high level of asepsis and sterile technique.
  • Prepare and maintain operating room supplies and equipment, ensuring that all necessary items are readily available.
  • Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Participate in the training and orientation of new staff members, sharing your expertise and knowledge to ensure a seamless transition.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical procedures and technologies, attending educational programs and maintaining all required certifications.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or a related field.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification or willingness to obtain within one year.
  • First Assistant Certification.
  • Minimum of three to six months of on-the-job training to become familiar with surgeon's preferences and department policies and procedures.
