At Ethos Veterinary Health, we're seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Room team. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our state-of-the-art ER and referral center.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess patients upon arrival and prioritize them based on their health status
- Initiate stabilization treatments, including intravenous catheterization, blood collection, and fluid therapy
- Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans created by veterinarians
- Administer high-quality patient care through timely monitoring and correct treatment administration
- Collect and analyze blood, urine, fecal, and skin samples in our in-house laboratory
- Administer anesthetic drugs and adjust them as needed during procedures and surgery
- Produce images of soft-tissues, organs, and bones using digital radiography equipment
- Place nasoesophageal and nasogastric feeding tubes for critical nutrition
- Supply patients in need with packed red blood cell and frozen plasma transfusions
- Calculate and administer drug dosages as directed by veterinarians
- Lavage and assist in bandaging wounds and lacerations
- Provide top-quality care for post-surgical cases, including specialty ICU cases
- Provide outstanding customer service when triaging, gathering patient information, and relevant history

- Ability to critically think, problem solve, and make decisions to follow through on DVM orders
- Knowledge of basic computer functions and ability to learn new veterinary-based software applications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment and maintain professionalism and composure at all times
- Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and the public in a professional manner
- Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments
- Ability to speak, read, and write the English language
- 1 year of veterinary technician experience
- High school or equivalent
- AA degree or BA/BS degree from an accredited veterinary technician program
- Minimum of 1 year in emergency or critical care veterinary medicine
- Candidate must be a licensed technician or eligible to be licensed in the state of Maryland
