Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Central Shops team, comprising technicians, planners, and team leaders, to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve environmental and health and safety performance, cost controls, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance and Engineering Manager to align departmental objectives with business goals.
  • Supervise and mentor team members to drive continuous improvement and team maturity.
  • Manage multimillion-dollar department budgets, ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or engineering.
  • Minimum five years of experience in machine repair, maintenance management, and manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum three years as department manager, including direct supervision of salaried staff and responsibility for hourly craft employees.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to lead organizational change and implement cost reduction initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Postgraduate degree in business, finance, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Five years of experience managing and controlling plant-wide budgets exceeding $50M annually.
  • Three years of experience leading contractual negotiations with manufacturing unions.
