Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Photonics Development Engineer to join our team at AIM Photonics. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new technologies in a 300 mm CMOS line, designing experiments to understand photonics and cleanroom processing, and interacting with customers or development partners to understand project requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in photonics, materials science, or a related field, and experience in process integration, device physics, and PIC/IC layout and verification. The candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new technologies in a 300 mm CMOS line
- Design experiments to understand photonics and cleanroom processing
- Interact with customers or development partners to understand project requirements
- Write reports, papers, and/or patents
- Design rule checking and waiver reviews
- Handle 3rd party design IP
- Collection and analysis of measurement, metrology, and inline test data
- Coordinate with vendors such as the mask house, dicing/packaging, and any outsourced processes
- Process/measurement change requests and change review board (CRB) submissions
- Sustaining and continuous improvement activities to maximize manufacturability while ensuring stable and repeatable performance
- Actively participate in team meetings
- Collaborate with other integration team members
Requirements:
- M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 5+ years relevant professional industry experience
- OR Ph. D in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 3+ years relevant professional industry experience
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in one or more of the following topics: CMOS Process Integration experience, Process Integration experience non-CMOS technologies, Background in modeling or device physics of photonic devices, Familiarity with PIC/IC layout and verification tools, Process development experience in multiple sectors, Materials characterization and metrology, Photonic/electronic test and characterization
