About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at The Travelers Companies, Inc. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and deploying complex data solutions that support our business intelligence and analytics initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement data pipelines to contextualize and provide easy access to data across the enterprise
  • Build and operationalize complex data solutions, including data cleansing and quality assurance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products and analytic environments
  • Perform data and system analysis, assessment, and resolution for complex defects and incidents
  • Test data movement, transformation code, and data components
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field or equivalent experience
  • Eight years of related experience in data engineering or a related field
  • Highly proficient use of tools, techniques, and manipulation, including cloud platforms, programming languages, and modern software engineering practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to ensure systems are built with longevity and create innovative ways to resolve issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and business partners
  • Ability to lead team members and create a safe environment for others to learn and grow as engineers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ETL tools, primarily Talend or similar
  • SQL skills, including medium to complex queries
  • AWS skills, including s3, Lambda, IAM, Glue, SNS, SQS, VPC, Athena, EC2, etc.
  • Snowflake skills
  • Source Code Management tools and best practices, including Git, Git Actions, and branch management
