Quality Engineer Job Description

CFR Engines, Inc. is a leading global manufacturer seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer to join our team in Pewaukee, WI. As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for supplier quality, manufacturing process development, and implementation, as well as acting in support of manufacturing to identify opportunities for enhancing processes and reducing nonconformance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the sourcing team in evaluating suppliers and supplier quality
  • Perform internal and supplier quality audits
  • Specify PPAP requirements for supplier PPAP submissions for part qualification/re-qualification
  • Lead the review and approval of supplier PPAP submissions, including functional testing, for suitability and completeness
  • Lead the development and implementation of site-level manufacturing quality processes, including control plans
  • Lead the Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Drive corrective actions to correct process/part quality deficiencies identified internally or externally
  • Provide quality engineering support to new product development (NPD) projects
  • Assist with ISO9001 planning, documentation, and implementation, as well as continuous improvement
  • Assist in follow-up on findings from audits performed on the CFR product line and other business entities to ensure proper responses and closure in an orderly and timely fashion
  • Act as a backup and provide inspection backlog support to the Quality Technician
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years performing responsibilities associated with a quality engineer position in a manufacturing environment (machining environment preferred). Minimum of 3 years of experience working closely with suppliers. Minimum of 3 years of experience in NPD and/or PPAP creation, submission, and evaluation and/or ISO9001
  • Certifications: CQE or CRE preferred
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline teams, formal and ad-hoc, in root cause investigation, creating permanent solutions, and effectively implementing the solutions
  • Technical acumen: Ability to read and interpret contracts, engineering drawings, product specifications, industry codes, and ISO regulations. Experience inspecting parts with a wide variety of handheld inspection gages, their calibration, and in selection of the proper gage to use for each part feature inspected. RCA/troubleshooting experience
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Communication: Ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization, and diverse audiences, including suppliers and internal/external customers
  • Analytical: Solid analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and organization skills. Capable of analyzing data to make sound decisions on suitability and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions
