Overview

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection seeks a highly skilled Environmental Conservation Specialist to join its dedicated team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about environmental conservation and community engagement.

Estimated Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 per year

Job Description

In this critical position, you will manage and facilitate the allocation of Federal Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) funding to achieve the objectives of the Great Lakes Program concerning policy and water quality. Your primary responsibilities will encompass creating policies and procedures that ensure effective funding distribution to local, state, and regional partners within the Lake Erie and Genesee River Basins.

You will provide guidance, training, and outreach to local government entities and non-governmental organizations, ensuring the efficient and effective utilization of Federal GLRI funds by establishing priorities for water quality and environmental enhancement, fostering partnerships with local and regional project stakeholders, and leveraging additional state, local, and federal financial resources.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Three years of professional environmental protection experience;
  • A bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation;
  • Or an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional environmental protection experience.

Benefits

This full-time employment opportunity offers a competitive salary range, a 30-minute lunch break, and the possibility of telework up to 3 days a week. You may have the opportunity to work from home, provided you have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. Occasional travel to GLRI meetings, project sites, and DEP Central Office as required.
