About the Unit:
The Progressive Care Unit is a specialized 44-bed facility that caters to patients recovering from trauma, surgical procedures, and oncology treatments.
Job Responsibilities and Qualifications- The Clinical Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Collaborating with medical professionals, the nurse provides comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care.
- Acts as a patient advocate to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
- Provides leadership to facilitate the delivery of professional nursing care, ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients through effective assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Implements prescribed medical interventions as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient conditions upon admission and throughout each shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes.
- Execute procedures and functions as directed by medical providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided in the patient medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
- Stay informed about medications, procedures, and equipment relevant to cardiac and medical-surgical care.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN program with completion within five years of hire. Exemptions may apply for experienced RNs.
- Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Licensure: Current RN license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC license may be applicable.
- Certification: BLS Healthcare Provider certification required.
- Preferred Certification: National certification in a nursing specialty.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing experience required.
