Position Summary:
The role involves capturing x-ray images of specific areas of the human body for diagnostic evaluation and supporting the imaging department. This position is focused solely on performing plain films and fluoroscopy.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Communicates procedures to patients to ensure clarity and understanding, providing necessary educational resources.
- Facilitates patient transport to and from clinical areas, confirming patient identity in accordance with established protocols. Aids technologists in preparing patients for radiological examinations by positioning them appropriately.
- Assists in the management of patient reports and records, ensuring accurate filing and retrieval.
- Adheres to radiation safety protocols to minimize unnecessary exposure to patients.
- Prepares and administers contrast agents and medications within the bounds of professional practice and regulatory standards.
- Monitors patients during procedures, reporting any unusual occurrences and suggesting protocol enhancements as needed.
- Ensures the timely submission of high-quality images and documentation to PACS, verifying image quality and patient data.
- Maintains equipment functionality, reporting any issues to the relevant personnel and ensuring proper safety measures are in place.
- Contributes to the upkeep of a clean and organized department, including procedure rooms and storage areas.
- May perform limited CT procedures in urgent situations when a CT Technologist is unavailable.
- Maintains a vigilant and safe working environment.
- Completes additional tasks as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- No prior experience necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regular standing and walking.
- Frequent visual acuity and depth perception for close and distant tasks.
- Regular use of auditory skills for communication and monitoring equipment.
- Frequent lifting and moving of patients and objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional lifting of heavier objects (25-50 lbs.) and performing various physical movements.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED
State-specific certifications and licenses as required, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and ARRT-R Radiography.
