Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Education Specialist to join our team at UMass Memorial Health Care. This is a full-time position that will be responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating staff development and educational activities to address identified or anticipated needs of learners for assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure the quality of patient care and clinical practice progression through assessment, coaching, and development of nursing staff and collaboration with interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Develop and implement educational programs for the entire Nursing Department, including all aspects of clinical practice, patient care, workplace safety, and outcomes of care patients receive.
  • Communicate, educate, and monitor changes to clinical practice and expectations, including reviewing documentation, providing additional support to staff, and reporting ongoing non-compliance to management.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams in strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems to support and enhance the competence, autonomy, and accountability of nursing staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Education, or related healthcare field.
  • Currently holds an active RN license in the State of Massachusetts.
  • BLS Certification.
  • ACLS Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or related healthcare field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching.
  • Process improvement experience.
Work Environment

This position requires frequent use of the computer, keyboard, and printer, as well as educational equipment such as teaching manikins, simulators, LCD projectors, etc. The schedule requires working every 5th Saturday.
