Echocardiography Technician

The Echocardiography Technician is a critical member of the Cardiology Section, responsible for performing complex echocardiography examinations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of thoracic anatomy and physiology, as well as the ability to operate advanced ultrasound equipment.

• Perform diagnostic echocardiography examinations, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms
• Conduct cardiac testing to determine the severity and variety of cardiac problems
• Set up and adjust ultrasound equipment to meet the conditions of the examination and the patient
• Operate advanced ultrasound equipment, including Doppler and color flow imaging
• Recognize pertinent abnormalities and document abnormal findings

• At least 1 year of experience comparable to the next lower grade level
• Ability to produce diagnostic quality images and Doppler frequency shift recordings
• Knowledge of normal echocardiographic findings and deviations produced by a wide variety of cardiovascular diseases
• Ability to perform complex procedures, including cardiac studies of the four chambers of the heart and valves

• 3-5 years experience as a registered cardiac sonographer
