Job Overview

Position Summary

The Automotive Technician role is crucial for ensuring that all vehicles and yard machinery within the fleet are operational and ready for deployment as required. This position also involves maintaining accurate records on a company-specific platform that monitors preventive maintenance and repair activities.

Key Responsibilities

Management retains the authority to assign or reassign tasks and responsibilities related to this position at any time.

  • Conducts all necessary preventive maintenance and repair tasks on fleet vehicles, trailers, and other company machinery. Responsible for the routine operation of vehicle upkeep and repair for all company assets while ensuring a tidy workspace.
  • May need to respond to roadside assistance calls for malfunctioning vehicles.
  • Interprets repair manuals and work orders to effectively fix equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and adhere to all company safety protocols; acknowledges that safety is the highest priority; participates in regularly scheduled safety briefings.
  • Required to utilize all assigned safety gear.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Capability to service and diagnose braking systems.
  • Ability to service and diagnose diesel vehicles, including tractor/trailers and power-train systems.
  • Basic proficiency with hand tools is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • CDL is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Frequently must push, pull, move, or lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Typical workshop setting. Potential exposure to dust and varying temperatures.
