Telecommunications Engineering Technician

Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Engineering Technician to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area - Engineering Services Group. The ideal candidate will assist in the daily operations of the FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) Program, which aims to design, build, operate, and maintain the FAA's next-generation communications platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review FAA databases and provide input for Site Survey Reports (SSRs)
  • Conduct site surveys to gather information for SSRs
  • Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel
  • Draft Project Risk Plans (PRPs) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMPs)
  • Generate and update drawings, sketches, and artifacts
  • Draft project plans for site preparation activities
  • Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic, and Operations personnel
  • Develop transition plans
  • Resolve schedule conflicts
  • Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities
  • Work with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) on schedules
  • Develop briefings, information, and reports on District status
  • Collaborate with other Districts/SSCs on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc.
  • Support District POC and SSCs with day-to-day work activities
  • Review and provide comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIPs)
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience
  • OR a Master's degree with additional experience
  • Ability to travel 25%-50%
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suites
Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience working with Telco systems performing Network Troubleshooting
  • Proficient working with AutoCAD or similar tools
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Assoc (NFPA) standards, National Airspace System Equipment Tower
  • Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards
  • Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG
