Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Deputy Clerk of Courts to join our team at the County of Delaware, OH. As a key member of our Title Division, you will be responsible for maintaining the official certificate of title records of motor vehicle and watercraft ownership for the residents of the State of Ohio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue, record, and cancel Ohio certificates of ownership
  • Transfer ownership of vehicles and watercraft
  • Calculate and collect sales tax and title fees on title transactions
  • Prepare and send daily reports to county and state agencies
  • Scan and archive all documents related to title transactions
  • Maintain a filing system of title documents
  • Monitor records according to retention schedules
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance
  • Attend various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops
  • Perform typing, word processing, and related computer operations
  • Work overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external customers, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of the position, including appearance and demeanor
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments, multitask with accurate focus and refocus in a fast-paced environment
  • Efficiently operate computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and agency-specific programs
  • Deliver excellent customer service, both in person and on the telephone
  • Proficiency in grammar, writing, mathematical skills, spelling, and punctuation
  • Thorough knowledge, adherence, and aptitude to follow safety policies, procedures, and practices

Requirements

A Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in any related field and previous title experience are preferred. Prior experience handling cash drawers, basic accounting, and daily balancing is required. Individuals must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business as a continued condition of employment. All required licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

Work Environment

The physical requirements for the position are identified as a variety of light and moderate work. This may include frequently moving boxes, shredder bags, large books, and other items that may weigh up to fifty (50) pounds. The physical activity of the position is manual dexterity, talking, hearing, reaching, climbing, stooping, balancing, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and walking. The individual performs work where objects being viewed are close to the eyes. The minimum work conditions for the position indicate that the individual is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
