Role Summary: Under the guidance of certified radiologists and adhering to established protocols, Radiologic Imaging Specialists are responsible for conducting procedures that yield critical diagnostic information.
These specialists will assist radiologists during procedures and oversee the training of student radiologic technologists assigned to them, while fostering positive relationships with patients and staff.
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. Graduates from accredited Allied Health Professional programs are preferred. Experience : Not required. Licensure/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and hold certification in Radiography from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA); alternatively, a high school diploma or GED with certification in Radiography from SCQRSA is acceptable. A current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card is also required. Skills/Knowledge : Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to perform and instruct radiologic examinations that yield satisfactory diagnostic images.
Familiarity with OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations is necessary. The role requires safe operation of radiologic equipment and proficiency in standard office equipment. Additional Requirements: A professional demeanor and appearance are crucial. Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information is mandatory. Interactions: Regular contact with patients, healthcare staff, physicians, and student technologists is expected. Work Environment:
The position involves frequent standing and walking, along with lifting and moving patients. Intermittent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs is required. The role demands frequent use of hand dexterity and reaching with arms. Good hearing and vision, corrected to normal range, are necessary. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential infectious materials is part of the role, along with risks associated with radiation and toxic substances. The work environment may vary from quiet to moderate noise levels, and the role may involve stressful conditions and irregular hours. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required based on departmental needs. Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM, with on-call weekend duties anticipated. No floating to other locations is required.
