The Senior Manager of Software Engineering is tasked with overseeing various software development teams, including supervisors, software architects, application analysts, and developers. The individual will be responsible for maintaining client relationships with one or more business sponsors and leading engineering resources to achieve the desired business outcomes for assigned digital products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management: Collaborate across diverse business areas to define, manage, and deliver on business objectives. Establish departmental goals and devise both short-term and long-term strategies to achieve these objectives. Oversee financial planning, project operations, and resource alignment while facilitating discussions across portfolios and development teams.
- Delivery: Oversee the vision, architecture, development, and maintenance of solutions within a complex technology portfolio that significantly contributes to company revenue. Ensure that software and features are delivered for high-visibility customer-facing platforms while fostering an environment of transparency and collaboration.
- Innovation & Measurement: Lead initiatives to enhance team efficiency, develop performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement efforts. Propose technological and process changes to bring innovative ideas to fruition.
- Team Management: Directly manage a team of employees and contractors, fostering a positive work environment and promoting team morale. Mentor team members to support their professional growth and align projects with their career aspirations.
- Operational Efficiency: Lead efforts to monitor and address security and compliance requirements for corporate websites. Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure adherence to company standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Certifications: PMP or Agile certifications are mandatory.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years in managing high-volume application development and support.
- At least 8 years of experience in direct people management.
- Experience with automated testing for over 5 years.
- 3+ years of experience managing agile development teams.
- Proven track record of managing substantial budgets across multiple business units.
- Extensive experience in eCommerce environments and delivering technical features.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Proficient in setting and achieving strategic goals.
- Ability to cultivate productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical and decision-making capabilities.
Work Environment: This role primarily operates in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety hazards. The position may require occasional travel.
