Nurse Manager Inpatient Behavioral Health Position

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to join our team in Inpatient Behavioral Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining standards, delivering patient care, directing and facilitating work performance of all personnel, and maximizing patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Assess patient symptoms for various medical problems, determine if the patient should be seen by the physician or seek emergency care, and schedule emergency or same day appointments based on telephone assessment.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Work independently and collaboratively with physicians, NP, PA, MA, and office staff to review charts and lab test results, monitor patient progress, recognize abnormalities, and take appropriate action.
- Clinical Care: Assess patient clinical status, evaluate and document patient response to current treatment plan, and administer IV medication as ordered.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist in scheduling tests and procedures as ordered by physicians, obtain prior authorizations as required, phone in prescriptions to pharmacies, and initiate homecare referrals.
- Leadership and Development: Practice, facilitate, and role model the principles of team building, delegation, and communication to demonstrate effective leadership skills, and participate in staff meetings and in-services.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain quality assurance assignments, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
To qualify, you must have a Associate Degree Nursing, Bachelors Degree highly desired and required within 2 years of start date. Current NYS Registered Nurse, Current NYS Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), and 1-2 years Related work experience are also required. Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and organization skills, and proficiency with Computers are essential.
