Job Summary

Microsoft Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team. As a key member of our Systems Technology team, you will be responsible for leading innovative network technology projects, from ideation to productization, and collaborating closely with data center and hardware teams to understand roadmaps and intercepts and be strategic on technology impact and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide technical leadership and guide innovative network technology projects, from ideation to productization.
* Collaborate closely with data center and hardware teams to understand roadmaps and intercepts and be strategic on technology impact and priorities.
* Foster collaboration and actively engage in cross-team orchestration, enhancing technological understanding and capabilities in partnership with peers, leading to increased awareness and knowledge across the organization.
* Build business cases and deep understanding of how to build business case for network techs including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Net Present Value (NPV), Return on Investment (ROI) and other methods, showing the impact to the business.
* Develop and execute strategic plans, orchestrating the execution of technology evaluation and strategic planning, partnering with teams across the company to track the efficacy of plans and drive long-term growth.

Requirements

* 7+ years of technical engineering experience, or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Optics or related field and 5+ years of technical engineering experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Optics or related field and 3+ years of technical engineering experience, or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Optics or related field.
* 5+ years demonstrated deep understanding of different server and data center network technologies.
* Proven experience of network systems and hardware reliability, operations, and productization.
* Hands on experience with network and switch technology.
* Knowledge of cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) network Hardware (HW) and architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

* 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Optics or related field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Optics or related field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Optics or related field and 3+ years of technical engineering experience.
* Involved in industry thought leadership in network technologies for data center design and operations, and have a track record of influencing and understanding the network technology space, be aware of tech trends and opportunities in the network space.
* Fundamental understanding of chip design, including Vary Large System Integration (VLSI), packaging, proven experience in systems hardware testing, including development, execution, and debugging, knowledge of server system architecture with hands-on experience in the integration, validation, and bring-up of Printed Circuit Board Array (PCBAs), hardware components, and systems, knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server environments, proven written and oral communication skills, familiarity with network infrastructure, experience deploying techs at scale, extensive experience leading and guiding complex network technology projects within large-scale data center environments, ability to mentor and lead virtual teams, track record of innovative problem-solving in cutting-edge technological contexts, demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse teams and influence executive-level stakeholders, advanced certifications in relevant fields such as data center management, advanced network technologies, or cable deployments, published research or patents in the fields, experience managing and implementing technological projects on a global scale, ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices.
