Wage Payroll Custodian

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Finance and Business, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a part-time janitorial worker to join our team.

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to perform various janitorial tasks, including cleaning student housing apartments, preparing them for occupancy, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the University Housing area.

• Clean student housing apartments and prepare them for occupancy by completing a detailed cleaning of all appliances, floorings, rooms, cabinets, stairwells, storage areas, windows, blinds, fans, sinks, and other fixtures.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, clean, and wax floor areas in and around University Housing.
• Operate scrubber, polisher, carpet shampooer, and other equipment as necessary.
• Prepare and paint walls, ceilings, inside of cabinets, drawers, shelving, and vanities.
• Clean all areas within Housing, including offices, laundry rooms, storage basements, play areas, and trash collection points.
• Provide custodial services for special events or tenants using the University Manor complex.
• Mow, rake, trim, weed, plant, seed, and mulch lawns and planting areas.
• Operate utility carts, tractors, power grounds, and lawn equipment to maintain grounds and remove litter from roads, parking lots, walks, etc.
• Move furniture and equipment between various housing units.
• Set up furnished housing units as per established guidelines, when necessary.
• Assist other Housing maintenance staff in the performance of other maintenance work as required.
• Use assorted hand tools and operate power tools, such as drills, saws, power augers, and pressure washers, as necessary.
• Distribute and/or post notices for tenant information.
• Participate in annual inventory process.
• Ensure apartment keys are delivered to and picked up from the Hospital Information Desk.
• Keep records of time, as directed.
• Report any problems/issues to Housing Group Leader or assigned team leader.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

• Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check.

This is a part-time seasonal temporary position for a maximum of consecutive weeks. Working hours are: 8:00 am through 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
