Salary: $15-$18 per hour

About the Role:

As a Logistics Operations Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth delivery of merchandise to our customers. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Operating trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Loading the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered. Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck.
  • Understanding shipping documents associated with merchandise for each delivery and having accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Reviewing shipping documentation to ensure order accuracy.
  • Unloading correct merchandise from the truck and placing it where the receiving party wants it. Obtaining legible signatures for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collecting and securing outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing material to the customer.
  • Working with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Loading the truck at other locations with merchandise, including merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
  • Providing sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
  • Inspecting the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location. Keeping the truck clean of debris in cab and body.
  • Advising management of any mechanical problems with the truck. At the end of the workday, completing the Driver's Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Removing keys from the truck and storing keys in the approved location at the end of the workday.
  • Successfully completing required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs. As a non-CDL driver, you must be at least 21 years old, possess a proper and valid driver's license, have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy, and pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
  • Know the laws, rules, and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
  • Understand and apply safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Perform arithmetic calculations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
