As a Payroll Tax Specialist at The Hagerty Group, LLC, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes, staying compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, and providing expert guidance on payroll tax-related issues. You will also research and provide guidance for international payroll tax issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accurate calculation, withholding, and remittance of payroll taxes including federal, state, and local taxes.
  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns (e.g., 941, 940, state unemployment tax returns) in a timely manner.
  • Conduct tax research and stay updated on tax law changes.
  • Provide expert tax advice on payroll-related matters, including tax withholdings, deductions, and credits.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review payroll tax reports, including W-2s, 1099s, and other necessary documentation.
  • Assist with year-end tax reporting and audits.
  • Respond to IRS and state tax agency inquiries and resolve any issues that arise.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in payroll tax compliance and administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Experience with payroll software and systems (e.g., Workday, ADP or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar is a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Willingness to stay current with changes in tax laws and payroll practices.

This position can be worked as a remote position within the United States. Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
