Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientist III to join our team at Fladger Assoc. Inc. as a Bioinformatics Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and deploy next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis workflows for data processing, visualization, integration, and mining to support novel therapeutic target identification and disease biomarker discovery.
  • Implement methods for omics data analysis and interpretation of genomic data sets, including bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, and ATAC-Seq.
  • Develop and maintain data visualization tools using R Shiny and D3.
  • Analyze diverse datasets, including multi-omics data, to identify relevant drug discovery targets and downstream effects relevant to immune disease.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate data from various sources and identify new opportunities for research and development.
  • Select and benchmark methods and tools, define and perform appropriate quality control measures, and apply innovative analysis approaches when standard methods are not adequate.
  • Communicate analysis results to coworkers and collaborators through effective oral and written presentations.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging practices and technologies in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a related scientific discipline, such as computer science, genomics, biostatistics, or bioinformatics, with at least one year of experience in a related field.
  • Strong scientific understanding and experience in bioinformatics, with a focus on NGS data analysis, functional genomics, statistics for big data analysis, and multi-omics data integration.
  • Experience with programming languages such as R, Python, Shiny, UNIX/Linux, and UNIX bash shell scripting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of existing bioinformatics databases and file formats, including NCBI and ENCODE.
  • Experience with computational biology tools and workflows, such as Nextflow and Snakemake.
  • Strong understanding of statistical software, including R and Python.
