Position Overview:

As an Artisan Pastry Specialist, you will be responsible for the preparation, baking, and presentation of high-quality baked goods in a meticulous, clean, and efficient manner. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all products are fresh, properly rotated, and abundantly stocked for our valued customers while delivering exceptional customer service.

Compensation: The starting pay for this role is $23.81 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Demonstrated expertise in baking methods.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and engage positively with customers.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English, with the capability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to work a schedule that meets the operational needs of the store.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

  • Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, verifying deliveries against vendor invoices, and checking products for quality and condition.
  • Ensure all bakery ingredients and products are rotated according to company policy, utilizing the oldest items first (first in, first out).
  • Support inventory management and ordering processes.
  • Handle damaged or spoiled products in accordance with company policies and assist in minimizing waste.
  • Transport stock to storage or display areas.
  • Prepare baking mixtures following established recipes and procedures.
  • Pan and roll bread and manage oven operations, ensuring proper baking temperatures and times for various products.
  • Operate mixers and decorate cakes according to customer specifications.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal health regulations, ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including display cases, coolers, and freezers, while observing company dress code and hygiene practices.
  • Exercise safe lifting practices and proper equipment usage.

Additional Duties:

  • Efficiently restock supplies to minimize waste and maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Promote bakery items through in-store announcements.
  • Report any incidents of theft, shoplifting, or property damage to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands:
Throughout each work shift, the following physical demands may be encountered:

  • Occasional crawling, sitting, pulling, and pushing up to 250 lbs, climbing, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Frequent carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, balancing, stooping, and reaching.
  • Continuous standing and walking on tile or concrete surfaces, along with handling, talking, seeing, smelling, and hearing.

Safety Considerations:
Potential safety risks include:

  • Occasional exposure to loud noise, cluttered surfaces, and contact with irritants.
  • Frequent twisting of the back and neck, contact with sharp objects, and slippery surfaces.
  • Continuous operation of hazardous equipment.

Equipment Utilized:
Fryer, bread slicer, ovens, mixers, and various kitchen utensils.

Working Environment:
Work is performed indoors, with exposure to both cold and hot temperatures.
