Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Pathologist to join our team at Montgomery County Pennsylvania. As a key member of our medical examiner's office, you will play a critical role in examining traumatic, sudden, and unexplained deaths, and providing expert testimony in court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Autopsy and Examination: Perform thorough autopsies and examinations to determine the cause and manner of death, and document findings in detailed reports.
  • Expert Testimony: Provide expert testimony in court proceedings, including depositions, grand jury sessions, and trials.
  • Investigation and Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations and analyses of death scenes, and provide expert opinions on the cause and manner of death.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and education to forensic technicians, investigators, and other personnel on autopsy procedures and techniques.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement policies and procedures related to autopsy and death investigation, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Research and Publication: Conduct research and publish studies on new concepts and advances in the field of forensic pathology.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Must be a licensed physician with a board certification in anatomic and forensic pathology.
  • Experience: Must have at least 5 years of experience working in a coroner or medical examiner's office.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Must have knowledge of anatomy, pathology, anthropology, and other related disciplines, as well as expertise in performing autopsies, external examinations, and medical records reviews.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift, move, or carry objects up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to health and environmental hazards.
