Job Title: Direct Support Professional

About the Job:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Friendship Community Care in Tucker, AR. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care and support to our clients, promoting their independence, dignity, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with basic living skills and daily personal tasks, such as bathing, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial management.
  • Provide safe and reliable transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed, requiring a valid Arkansas driver's license.
  • Maintain effective communication with staff regarding client needs and progress toward their plan of care by the end of each shift.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including behavioral reports, incident reports, compliance forms, personal care work sheets, requisitions, maintenance forms, progress reports, monthly attendance logs, and other necessary documents.
  • Follow proper medication management guidelines and assist in monitoring and documenting these procedures.
  • Organize and implement recreational activities for clients, fostering social interaction and community engagement.
  • Model positive behavior and adhere to the company's dress code and expectations.
  • Treat clients and their families with dignity and respect, upholding the organization's mission and values.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of FCC facilities and grounds, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of FCC vehicles, guaranteeing cleanliness and regular preventive maintenance.
  • Participate in necessary training and continuing education to enhance professional development and quality of care.
  • Comply with confidentiality policies and maintain the privacy of clients' information.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; two+ years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with state minimum liability insurance required.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, maintaining physical stamina throughout the workday.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, prioritizing excellent customer service and teamwork.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, exercising sound judgment and adaptability in various situations.
