This position is vital in managing financial risks, improving financial processes, and guiding the accounting team to guarantee timely and precise reporting.

The Financial Operations Manager collaborates closely with executive management to deliver financial insights that influence strategic decision-making.

Core Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:


Supervise the creation of precise and timely financial documents, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and budget variance analyses.

Ensure that financial reporting adheres to GAAP and other relevant regulations.


Coordinate the preparation and submission of regulatory and tax documents, such as sales and use tax, property tax, and corporate income tax returns.


Internal Controls & Risk Management:
Establish and uphold a system of internal controls to protect assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

Monitor adherence to policies and procedures, pinpointing areas for enhancement and executing corrective measures.

Manage financial risk by overseeing insurance policies, ensuring sufficient coverage, and identifying risk areas for mitigation.

Month-End and Year-End Close:
Lead and manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

Oversee reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany transactions.

Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and adjustments prepared by the accounting team.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
Collaborate with senior leadership to formulate the annual budget and financial forecasts.

Provide ongoing analysis and reporting of actual performance against the budget, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.

Assist in strategic planning by offering financial insights and scenario analyses.

Audit & Compliance Oversight:
Act as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors.

Coordinate audit activities and ensure the organization is prepared for all audits (financial, tax, regulatory).

Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) if applicable.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
Monitor cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations and investments.

Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to optimize cash management.


Collaborate with the CFO to manage the organization’s banking relationships and ensure proper handling of credit lines and other financing arrangements.


Process Improvement & Automation:
Continuously assess accounting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency enhancements.

Lead or support financial system implementations, upgrades, and integrations, ensuring seamless operations.

Team Leadership & Development:
Supervise and mentor the accounting team, including AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger staff.

Provide ongoing training, development, and performance evaluations to foster growth and maintain a high-performing team.

Ensure collaboration and effective communication within the finance team and across departments.

Tax Planning & Strategy:
Ensure compliance with all tax filings and assist in developing tax strategies that optimize the organization’s tax position.

Work with external tax advisors to manage corporate tax matters and ensure proper reporting.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).

CPA certification (required).

MBA or Master’s in Accounting/Finance (preferred).

Experience:
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or Controller role.

In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced accounting software.
