Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in a part-time float position. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional care to patients experiencing psychiatric/mental health disorders in our adult and youth Partial Hospital Programs, inpatient, and clinics. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing practices, with a focus on delivering patient-centered care that is sensitive to individual needs and preferences.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise nursing care of patients within the area of assignment, in accordance with PrairieCare policies and procedures.
- Administer medications and/or refills in an accurate manner, consistent with policy and good nursing practice, including verifying allergies and/or contraindications and monitoring for side effects.
- Provide care management for patients in person and over the phone, utilizing psychosocial, physical, and behavioral assessments to develop individualized directives.
- Maintain confidentiality in matters related to patients and families, and ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, collaborate with team members, and seek timely advice to ensure safe patient care.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, completing and coordinating referrals, and obtaining insurance pre-authorizations for medications.
- Responsible for nursing assessment upon admission and discharge planning required in partial hospital programs.
- Effectively use therapeutic approaches to manage milieus in partial hospital programs and inpatient settings, with a focus on reducing the use of restraint and seclusion when possible.
- Plan and facilitate nursing groups with patients during partial hospital programs and inpatient settings.
- Lead and delegate tasks to Psychiatric Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Medical Assistants within scope of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing School, Nursing Degree required. BSN Preferred.
- Current licensure as an RN with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing is required.
- Evidence of 1 year of psychiatric/mental health nursing experience within the past two years preferred.
- Ability to communicate and make safe judgment calls in stressful situations.
- Ability to multi-task, use time efficiently, and prioritize appropriately.
- Ability to provide remote coverage for clinics throughout the PrairieCare system.
- Ability to float to all PrairieCare Clinics, Partial Hospital Programs, and Inpatient.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner in both verbal and written format and model a positive teamwork attitude.
