Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Paraprofessional to join our educational team at Soliant. The successful candidate will assist teachers in the classroom, provide support to students, and contribute to a positive and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers with classroom management and instructional tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient learning experience for students.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
  • Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that their unique requirements are met.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials and resources, maintaining a well-organized and clutter-free classroom environment.
  • Supervise students during non-classroom times, including in the cafeteria, on the playground, and during field trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Support students with daily activities, including personal care if needed, promoting their independence and self-confidence.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behavior, providing valuable insights to teachers and other staff members.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment, promoting a culture of respect and empathy among students and staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff to support student learning and well-being, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and supportive education.
  • Participate in professional development and training sessions, staying up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and best practices.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree or higher, or completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education, or a minimum of 60 college credit hours, or successful completion of a formal state or local assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a passion for helping students succeed.
  • Basic understanding of child development and instructional strategies.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting as required by Illinois state law.
  • Completion of any required state and local certifications for paraprofessionals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional or teacher's aide.
  • Training or coursework in education or a related field.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Capability to stoop, kneel, and crouch to assist students.
Work Environment
  • This position will be primarily based in a classroom setting, with some duties performed outside the classroom during supervision times and field trips.
