Key Responsibilities:

The Construction Financial Analyst operates under the general oversight of an Executive Director or designated representative, adhering to established financial management protocols for the Facilities Development Department. This role encompasses a variety of tasks related to the financial management of construction projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Executing monthly financial closures for the cost accounting system.
  • Accurately entering all financial data related to construction projects into the existing accounting system and addressing all inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducting monthly project evaluations and cost forecasts.
  • Meeting all departmental deadlines as required.
  • Reviewing invoices to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and accuracy for all transactions.
  • Maintaining and updating the vendor database.
  • Preparing journal entries for month-end financial closure.
  • Confirming authorization for all ongoing projects.
  • Establishing new project numbers for Facilities Service Requests (FSR) and coordinating with General Accounting for the assignment of Construction In Progress (CIP) numbers.
  • Providing project managers and vendors with payment status updates and related information in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Assisting in the preparation of documentation for departmental audits concerning construction in progress and other relevant data.
  • Setting up budgets based on the submitted schedule of values and awarded CIP numbers, and creating a Project Task Summary accordingly.
  • Establishing CSI codes to summarize costs for management, including permit fees, environmental impact studies, testing and inspection, architectural and engineering services, and construction costs.
  • Creating vendor numbers as assigned by Accounts Payable.
  • Reviewing Purchase Requisitions for completeness, ensuring accuracy of attached proposals and supporting documents, verifying project and CIP numbers, and confirming budget alignment with the current fiscal year.

QualificationsEssential Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in construction accounting or facilities management, with direct expertise in analyzing and interpreting financial data related to construction accounting and contracts associated with a Master Facility Program is required; 10 years of experience is preferred.
