About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team at Sonder Healthcare. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices, with the ability to provide high-quality care to patients in their homes.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients' functional status, including muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, and work capacity.
  • Assess the home environment for hazards or barriers to independent living, identifying equipment needs and participating in the development of the total plan of care.
  • Perform work capacity evaluations and refer patients to specialized vocational training, as needed.
  • Develop treatment programs and establish goals for improved function, communicating plans of care to referring physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Teach new skills or retrain patients in familiar daily activities lost due to illness or injury.
  • Fabricate splints and instruct patients on the use of adaptive equipment to improve function.
  • Train patients to use prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and clinical notes, reporting any changes in patients' conditions to physicians.
  • Maintain contact/communication with other personnel involved in patients' care to ensure coordinated and efficient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Licensed occupational therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • Two years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
  • Possesses and maintains current CPR Certification.
  • Licensed driver with automobile that is in good working order and insured in accordance with organizational requirements.
