Film Scoring Instructor

UCLA Extension is seeking a qualified Film Scoring Instructor to teach a variety of courses in the Entertainment Studies Program. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and professional experience in film scoring, instrumentation, orchestration, recording, mixing and editing techniques for film composers, composing for video games, and composing for animation.

The Film Scoring Instructor will be responsible for developing or updating course syllabi, using subject-matter expertise to impart knowledge to students, designing interactive and motivational classroom activities, and utilizing Canvas as a course support platform. The instructor will also be responsible for responding to student questions and learning needs, communicating with program staff, and completing required administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and professional experience in film scoring, instrumentation, orchestration, recording, mixing and editing techniques for film composers, composing for video games, and composing for animation. The instructor should have current or recent professional experience in film scoring so that they can help students understand and navigate the evolving landscape of film composition today.

Compensation for this position is $2,700 per course, per quarter. Courses are typically 33 hours. Instructors are hired on a quarterly contract basis.
