About the Position

The U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipefitter Leader to join our team. As a Pipefitter Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all necessary materials, tools, and equipment are available for each job.
  • Monitor work in progress and completed work to ensure that supervisor's instructions, procedures, and deadlines have been followed.
  • Advise the supervisor on the status of operations, delays, and problems.
  • Record time and attendance as needed.
Requirements
  • Ability to do the work of a Pipefitter Leader without more than normal supervision.
  • Ability to lead or supervise a team of pipefitters.
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Plumbing and pipefitting skills.
  • Self-management skills.
  • Physical effort: ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Working Conditions

The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. The pipefitters are sometimes required to make installations and repairs in areas where bad-smelling fumes are present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. The pipefitters are frequently exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. They are occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones.

Education and Experience

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Installation Management Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
