MRG Exams, a leading independent medical examination service provider, is seeking a part-time Optometrist to conduct comprehensive eye exams for United States Veterans as part of the VA's SHA process.

About the Role

The selected Optometrist will be responsible for reviewing medical health records through a secure web portal and performing comprehensive eye exams on each veteran, completing forms through the same portal. It is essential to note that the Optometrist will not make determinations; the VA makes all decisions.

  • This is a non-treating role focused solely on assessments.
  • An average of 3-6 veterans per day will be reviewed and assessed.
  • This position will be offered as a 1099 Independent Contractor arrangement.
  • The work schedule will consist of 2-3 days per week, with 8-hour days.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should:

  • Be interested in performing comprehensive eye exam assessments rather than traditional patient care and treatment.
  • Able to analyze data from medical records and exam findings to complete forms and provide medical opinions.
  • Submit completed forms within 24 hours after an exam.
  • Be passionate about serving Veterans in their community.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
Essential Qualifications

To perform this job, the Optometrist must:

  • Hold a current license as an Optometrist in the state where exams are performed.
  • Be able to perform Visual Field Testing (VFT).
