Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the 5East Cardiovascular Care Unit at SSM Health. As a Cardiovascular Nurse, you will provide direct patient care to patients undergoing complex cardiovascular surgeries and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain comprehensive patient data to develop a holistic picture of the patient's needs or condition.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to determine diagnosis or conditions relevant to care.
  • Identify optimal patient outcomes in collaboration with the patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Develop a care plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain outcomes, using clinical judgment in collaboration with the patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Implement the care plan, employing strategies to promote and maintain a safe environment, and coordinate implementation with the patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, evaluate their own practice, and maintain current knowledge and competence.
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice, collaborate with the patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Use clinical inquiry and integrate best evidence into practice.
  • Apply the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to critical care nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on the patient's age-specific needs and clinical needs.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
Work Environment

The Registered Nurse will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a team of experienced healthcare professionals. The 5East Cardiovascular Care Unit is a 30-bed surgical intermediate care unit that provides care for patients undergoing major cardiovascular, thoracic, abdominal, peripheral, vascular, tracheostomy, and trauma-related surgeries.
