Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. As an HVAC Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing environmental control or refrigeration equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment within an assigned facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and maintain environmental control or refrigeration equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair functions, including troubleshooting and repair of building mechanical problems
  • Direct the work of other staff performing routine maintenance and repair functions
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Ensure satisfactory operation of building systems to meet the programmatic and energy conservation needs and objectives of the building
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience related to performing the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC mechanical systems
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use ladders and aerial lifts up to 60 feet
  • Availability to work on weekends or after business hours as necessary
  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver license (or other such valid operator's permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of attending a 2-year college or technical school with a certificate in HVAC and/or similar applicable training as received in a military service school
  • Possess Windows based computer navigational skills and/or evidence of knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management systems
  • Basic electrical and plumbing skills with troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and State of Wisconsin safety regulations
  • Basic small engine knowledge and troubleshooting experience
