Position Summary:

The EHS Manager will be tasked with the coordination, planning, and execution of all environmental, health, and safety initiatives within the designated area. This role requires collaboration with facility managers to implement corporate EHS policies and ensure adherence to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to cultivate trust and confidence among team members and management, driving change to enhance workplace safety and prevent injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster relationships with employees to promote a leading safety culture within the assigned region.
  • Design, conduct, or arrange EHS training programs for all personnel, including new hire orientation and ongoing training to ensure compliance with EHS policies and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit periodic environmental and regulatory reports to Federal, State, and Local agencies, maintaining accurate records of all EHS activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into business operations, including expansion and process improvement initiatives.
  • Implement EHS management system strategies and action plans, defining performance goals in partnership with local, regional, and corporate leaders.
  • Conduct regular EHS inspections, risk assessments, and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of local and regional programs, reporting deviations and recommending resolutions.
  • Manage local and regional environmental permitting processes and maintain all necessary documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing EHS programs in recycling, heavy industry, or manufacturing environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and a strong understanding of EPA regulations.
  • Proven experience in change management and process improvement.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying EHS programs and policies effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and implement site-specific and regional goals and strategies.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven track record in problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish is essential.
