Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team at KA Recruiting Inc. in Dutchess County, New York. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will perform histology tasks with precision and efficiency, participate in quality control/quality assurance procedures, and maintain accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Embed and section specimens according to established protocols, ensuring optimal tissue preservation.
  • Pursue quality excellence by actively participating in quality control/quality assurance procedures.
  • Organize and manage files, blocks, and slides with meticulous attention to detail, facilitating efficient slide distribution and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain an adequate supply inventory, ensuring seamless laboratory operations.
  • Proficiently utilize LIS (Laboratory Information System), Powerpath, and Omni-Trax for data management and reporting.
  • Operate the Cryostat effectively for frozen section preparation.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize various histology equipment, including tissue processors, staining machines, and microtomes.
  • Ensure accuracy and precision in slide cover slipping and labeling.
  • Execute hematoxylin-eosin (H/E) and special staining techniques, preparing solutions as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • NYSDOH licensure as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Histotechnician, Histotechnologist, Technician, or Technologist.
  • An Associate's Degree from a relevant course of study as defined by NYS clinical laboratory licensing requirements.
  • 6-12 months of experience in a surgical pathology laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and proficiency in relevant software.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
