Job Summary

The Music Teaching Artist will design and implement engaging music curricula, foster a creative and inclusive classroom environment, and work collaboratively with school communities to promote arts education. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students and contribute to the growth of arts education in our community.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver standards-based music curricula for grades K-5
  • Foster a creative and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and motivation
  • Collaborate with school communities, including teachers, administrators, and parents, to promote arts education and build partnerships
  • Document teaching practice and student progress through regular assessments and evaluations
  • Attend and participate in professional development workshops and training sessions to stay current on best practices in music education
  • Represent School Gig at school events and community functions to promote arts education and build relationships with stakeholders
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching music to students in grades K-5
  • Knowledge and expertise in teaching music, including curriculum design and implementation
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school communities and build partnerships
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to document teaching practice and student progress through regular assessments and evaluations
Working Conditions

The Music Teaching Artist will work in a school setting, with occasional travel to school events and community functions. The position requires the ability to lift, push, or carry supplies, equipment, and instruments up to 40lbs, as well as bend, twist, reach, stand, and/or sit for long periods of time.
