Melt Operations Assistant

The Melt Operations Assistant will aid the Melt Manager in all responsibilities and/or take charge in their absence.

This role demands flexibility in hours to accommodate the needs of the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Support and assist the Melt Manager with the following tasks and assume these responsibilities when the Melt Manager is unavailable.

Accountable for conveying the company’s objectives and priorities to all staff (both salaried and hourly) as necessary.
Responsible for the training and development of team members.
Tasked with communicating and enforcing company policies, regulations, and procedures.
Engaged in ongoing safety initiatives, safety communications, and prompt investigations of incidents.
Oversee the achievement of production tonnage and chemistry specifications while ensuring minimal costs at the spout.
Assist in formulating long-term strategies to enhance operational efficiencies.
Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions when targets are not met.
Collaborate with the Supply Chain Team to ensure timely delivery of raw materials to meet production schedules.
Work with the scheduling team to optimize the maintenance of proper chemistry and required tonnages.
Assist in the commissioning and operation of a new electric melting facility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in Melt or Melt Maintenance.
3 to 5 years specifically in Cupola and Electric Melt operations.
Bachelor’s, Associate’s, or a 2-year Technical degree or actively pursuing such qualifications.
Proven ability to lead and manage a team.
Basic understanding of chemistry control within the melting shop.
Familiarity with ISO/TS standards as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to conduct team meetings, training sessions, and presentations.
Must exhibit strong leadership capabilities.
Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
