James Madison University is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our Sports Medicine team. As an Athletic Trainer, you will be responsible for providing top-notch healthcare services to our student-athletes, ensuring their safety and well-being during practices and competitions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide athletic healthcare services to the JMU Women's Lacrosse program and student-athletes, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Ensure emergency readiness at all practices and competitions, adhering to the JMU Emergency Action Plan.
- Communicate effectively with coaching staff, strength and conditioning staff, sports medicine staff, and athletic administration.
- Contribute to a team effort by welcoming new challenges and exploring opportunities to enhance services to the department.
- Assist with scheduling, organization, and completion of student-athlete pre-participation and exit physical examinations.
- Coordinate timely referrals and communications with JMU Team Physicians regarding student-athlete injuries and medical conditions.
- Provide coverage for practices, strength/conditioning sessions, and competitions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records on all student-athletes in a timely and confidential manner.
- Counsel and educate student-athletes regarding their injuries and treatment plans.
- Serve as a clinical preceptor to athletic training students.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, Conference, NCAA, and Commonwealth of Virginia regulations.
- Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field.
- Hold BOC certification, have a Virginia license to practice Athletic Training, or be eligible for licensure.
- Ability to effectively communicate with multiple parties within the athletic department and campus community.
- NCAA experience with lacrosse and/or Olympic sports.
