The University of Illinois Chicago, College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of natural products drug discovery.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a strong, extramurally-funded, independent research program.
- Teach in the undergraduate, professional, and graduate programs of the College of Pharmacy.
- Engage in internal service by participating on Department, College, and University committees.
- Provide external service through community, professional, and publishing organizations at the local, regional, and national levels.
- Collaborate with faculty to establish strong and positive pre- and post-doctoral learning environments.
- Perform other related duties and contribute to special projects as needed.
- PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, Synthetic Biology, Pharmacognosy or a related discipline.
- Relevant postdoctoral experience is required.
- Priority will be given to applicants whose research focuses on natural product drug discovery and incorporates elements of one or more of the following disciplines: bioinformatics, genetics, plant sciences, microbiology, and synthetic/chemical biology.
Applicants should complete an application package that includes a cover letter, curriculum vitae, concise description of planned research (between 3-6 pages), statement of teaching philosophy, and contact information for three references.
