Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a 5 AM PreK Teacher Assistant at Norman Public Schools. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting the educational and personal growth of young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers with instruction and activities for individuals or groups, as assigned.
  • Supervise students in instructional settings, off-campus activities, and during non-instructional activities such as recess, assemblies, and emergency drills.
  • Prepare, create, or adapt instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist students with assignments, setup and operate equipment for instructional purposes, and serve as a chief source of information and assistance for substitute teachers.
  • Alert teachers to special needs of students and assist with student behavior management strategies.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to ensure the classroom is neat and clean, including washing dishes, disinfecting toys and tables, and preparing snacks for students.
  • May ride the afternoon bus route supervising student behavior on the bus and operate photocopier, laminator, and duplicator.
Requirements
  • Good customer service and people skills.
  • Ability to handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested.
  • Compliance with safety guidelines and policies to reduce accidents or injury to staff or students.
  • Proper attendance or leave policies and other work-habits concerns for staff.
  • Creativity, initiative, and effective problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced educational environment with frequent interactions with students, teachers, and staff. The ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently is essential.
