Job Summary

We seek a skilled Paralegal to join our team at Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, specializing in the Statewide Expunction Project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with eligibility for expunction services under our program's priorities.
  • Provide paraprofessional legal services to eligible clients in civil, family, and other cases, under the direct supervision of an attorney.
  • Participate in outreach and community legal education, building relationships with clients and community groups.
  • Conduct intake, referrals, and case development, including interviews and client screening.
  • Assist attorneys with case representation, drafting pleadings, and interacting with court staff and clients.
  • Maintain accurate records and files, develop specialized skills, and stay updated on new developments in the area.
  • Translate for clients, seek supervision, and participate in in-house training and staff meetings.
  • Report caseload statistics and other activities to supervisors and participate in staff activities.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree and paralegal certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in legal services, public interest, or volunteer work serving low-income persons.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated, with excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and maintain client confidentiality.
