POSITION OVERVIEW


The Director of the Public Safety Office (PSO) is accountable to the Vice President overseeing public safety initiatives and is tasked with the organization, planning, training, scheduling, and management of the overall operations and staff within Public Safety.

This role is pivotal in guiding the department in alignment with the Mission of Saint Francis.

The PSO Director will be responsible for the management of surveillance systems, possess a thorough understanding of policies and procedures pertinent to public safety performance, and actively engage in the annual operational and capital budget development process.

Additionally, the PSO Director will undertake and execute all other responsibilities related to the operations and act as an Officer of the PSO when required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor's degree in criminal science, criminal justice, or psychology is mandatory or;
  • A High School diploma accompanied by ten (10) years of progressive experience in healthcare public safety, security, or law enforcement is essential;
  • A Master's degree in business or a related discipline is preferred.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must secure a City of Cape Girardeau Security license within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role.
  • Membership with the International Association of Healthcare Safety & Security (IAHSS) and/or ASIS International is preferred.
  • CHPA; ASIS CPP, ASIS APP, or ASIS PSP certifications are advantageous.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in healthcare management, public safety, security, law enforcement, or a related field is required.
  • At least five (5) years of leadership experience is essential.
