Position Overview: The Maternity and Newborn Care Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care within the maternity and neonatal environment. This role involves effective communication with medical professionals regarding any alterations in the patient's clinical status, including fetal monitoring, diagnostic evaluations, and symptom assessment. The nurse must be adept at responding promptly and accurately to shifts in the patient's condition or treatment response. Additionally, this position entails performing general nursing responsibilities across various departments under supervision and engaging in quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of medications and ensure proper administration according to the patient's age and clinical circumstances.
- Capable of assessing neonates at the time of delivery and executing neonatal resuscitation with NRP certification.
- Conduct thorough head-to-toe evaluations on all patients and adjust care plans based on the patient's treatment response.
- Develop personalized educational plans and assess the effectiveness of patient instruction.
- Exhibit proficiency in Electronic Fetal Monitoring and maintain effective communication with the healthcare team.
- Coordinate patient care, assist physicians during procedures, and manage equipment as necessary.
- Uphold patient confidentiality, adhere to regulatory standards, and participate in educational and staff meetings.
Professional Expectations:
- Comply with the dress code, complete annual training, and safeguard patient confidentiality.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards and policies related to departmental operations.
- Represent the organization positively and communicate its mission, vision, and values effectively.
Regulatory Qualifications:
- Possess a valid state Registered Nurse License.
- Have a minimum of one year of experience in Labor and Delivery/Newborn Nursery.
- Successfully complete certifications in Neonatal Resuscitation, BCLS, and fetal monitoring.
